Mulli wants K600m, Vuwa K80m for property damage

Mulli wants K600m, Vuwa K80m for property damage, -100% based on 1 rating

LILONGWE (Malawi Democrat) –Chairman of Mulli Brothers Limited (MBL) Holdings, Letson Mulli, has filed a claim for property damage in the region of K600 million following the looting of violent protestors in the July 20 nationwide demonstrations.

Demonstrators in Lilongwe among other things broke into shops owned by People’s Trading Centre (PTC), Chipiku Stores outlets, Kulima Gold Ltd including shops owned by Chinese nationals and offices of Chombe Tea owned by MBL Holdings and torched two buses of his National Bus Company.

Mulli’s Sunrise Pharmaceuticals was also torched by the mob. The Pharmaceutical is said to have lost medicines and hospital equipment which in total cost about $3 million.

According to sources familiar with the development, Mulli and insurance company NICO are in disagreement over what the policy actually covered. NICO is reportedly refusing to pay for MBL’s looted property, arguing that civil unrest wasn’t covered by the policy NICO sold to Mulli.

President Bingu wa Mutharika, believed to have a stake in Mulli Brothers, inspected the company’s damaged warehouse on July 25.

Information Minister Symon Vuwa Kaunda  whose Trust Auctioneers was also looted and is seeking K80 million compensation for property damage.

VUWA KAUNDA: Wants K80 million

Riots broke out in several cities in Malawi on July 20 after police and the army tried to disperse protesters demanding the resignation of President Wa Mutharika, whom they accuse of ignoring civil liberties and damaging the economy.

One can understand poor Malawians anger. Mulli owns alot in Malawi because Bingu is doing business with these brothers. they get every contracts even if they are not suit for that contract. The government pays and it is tax payers money. These are poor Malawians money which Bingu give to himself by offering Mulli brothers contracts. It is the same with portugues company. Bingu is there and he got to build a mansion (big house) in Portugal, by offering this company contracts. Australian Company which bingu sold Uranium to. Also the same. Bingu got a kind of thankful by building a Mansion (big house) in Australia. the house which is in the name of his daughter. Where the daughters of Muntharika got money? where have they worked? The only thing they have been doing is to sleep with men who gives them children whom Tax payers are paying good schools for them. While Malawian workers are working very hard and getting little salary to pay Tax thinking that this tax will improve their lives by having medicine in the hospitals, fuel and forex so that they can do buiness or go to work Bingu is busy stealing for his family. What is this? Europe could never had build their countries as they have done if leaders were stealing as African leaders do. IT IS A SHAME AND PUTS US TO BE THE LOWEST PEOPLE AND THIEVES ON WEATHY. ‘GOD PUNISH THESE PEOPLE WHO STEAL FROM POOR PEOPLE.

Harry read my comment. Malawians has reached the point of suffering. How long should the tolerance go? We dont know if it was the demonstrators or the thugs of DDP. They can do this so that the demonstrators be blamed. The owner of the propertise are political people who has become rich on ordinary Malawians suffering. Mulli is a business association of Bingu Muntharika (the president) Vuwa is the minister of information who has become rich because he works in the government. More read the comment below. This is corruption of the president and those involved. In Europe a minister can not be both minister and run his business. One has to choose. The Nation buses are Mulli´s and Bingu´s. they are called Nation buses. WHY Nation when they dont belong tothe Malawi Nation? We had Nation Buses during Kamuzu Banda and they were government buses which tax payers were paying. Harry I dont know if you are a Malawian. South Africa is doing well Thanks to Whites who are running the economy. If we had also Whites running the economy. Malawi to day were going to be a Sovereign country which could at least do without begging and humilated as it is the case to day. Our president is going to Iran, to beg. Can you imagine.

Harry. I dont know if you are a Malawian. You dont know why this happened. If the government of Bingu had let the demonstrators demonstrate peaceful this could not have happened. Malawians are not voilent people. They are pushed to do this. They have a president who is so orrogant and dont want to listen. Also who has enriched himself and his family. How do you expect people to go to work when they can not drive the car? These are the same people This government has stolen money from. Malawians people are kind and tolerant but how can a human being go on with suffering. the owners of the shops are government people whohas become so rich. Bingu the president is doing business with Mulli brothers. Vuwa is the minister of information. Chinese are enjoying the hospitality of kind Malawians, building hotels for Bingu but not employed because Chinese companies have brought their own worker. In Europe a man can not do business and politics at the same time. One has to choose. Why bingu gives Mulli brothers all the contracts? Because it his business too. In democratic world this is corruption. Malawians go jobless while Chinese and foreigners are working in Malawi. How would you feel if you are living in Malawi? What the people did was despite and anger. We dont even know if it was not Thugs of DDP and they want to blame the demonstrators. WHO IS GOING TO COMPANSATE THE DEAD YOUNG MEN? They dead for their rights and freedom. So Mr Harry dont talk stupid. You are luck you are living a country where things work. Thanks to white people who control economy of South Africa. In Malawi we have doctors, professors, academics , lawyers who call them by their education names but what are they “THIEVES” AND SELFISH” They only look into their own best not the countries. People are dying because of no medicines. People can not go to work because they is no fuel. No investors. Think before you talk. I dont feel pity at VUWA or MULLI. they have become rich on poor Malawian tax money. Bingu pays to himself by offering Mulli contracts. It is government money it is tax money. CORRUPTION OF HIGH CLASS. They are lucky they are in Africa they will not be convicted. Next leader wil do the same. There goes African and African leaders. Poor continent and yet rich. IS IT INDEPENCE WE WANTED? ARE FAILING TO TAKE CARE OF OUR NATIONS. MAY BE IT IS BETTER WE LET EUROPEAN TAKE CARE OF OUR ECONOMIC? HOW ARE WE GOING TO LIKE? The truth is if African were given Europe as it is and Europeans take Africa as it is. What will happen after 2 years and 5 years? The answer is what we see in Africa.

if this goes on, an investigation into how mulli got this wealth should be launched. Further investigation should go into how he was awarded so many public contracts at once. How could he win a tender to supply all prisons with food when officially administration of such things are decentralised.

Pursue the law suit and we will be breathing down your neck before you know it. Believe me we will get all the required info because most of us are very angry with you and how the gov gives u all the contracts it can.

patti I agree with you,in fact am not happy to see my beloved country in such a big mess, losing track within a very short period. The people in power should know it took Gods approval for them to be at whatever positions they are holding now all because God Himself trusted them and if they used some physical or any other contraly assistance to Gods authority, they must not be cheated that it worked out.if they are there thinking its because anabela mavoti kaya anasamba mankhwala kaya zizimba zanji kaya chifukwa iwo ali ndi udindo ku satanic aiwale. Its all because mulungu anavomela of which anakakana they couldn’t have been there,so this Sovereign Lord God Almighty whose name is Jehovah, the creator of heaven and earth is able to give and to take.amakweza odzichepetsa ndikutsitsa odzikweza.Anthu ake akuvutika and He cant just seat back and watch.they must know kuti they are crying to Him and He answers with consumming fire. They must out.however despite that we are consious our tax being used to archieve different selfish desires we must not argue about things like the name given to the bus company,NATIONAL BUS COMPANY,because we have several businesses run by individuals bearing that word NATION eg the Nation news paper.About economy the isseu of wishing we had whites governing our economy i dont support that. Its high time we realise that we are an independent state we have to take good care of ourselves.i hate it thaw there must be other external entities running our economy when we have a government comprising well educated peaple and a president who is a holder phd in economics for that matEer

Joyce nice to correct me on Balusconi. The different is that Balusconi was rich before he become a president. He owned those businesses. That is why he campaigned with his money not tax money. Bingu had no money of his own to campaign. It was tax money which Muluzi used t what did he do after helping him? Bingu did not have businesses nor house or Ndata farm. Do you tell me Balusconi become rich after. Have Obama businesses? Bush ´s family are millinares they own oil companies in Taxes. In Malawi they start businesses when they join politics. If you think properl how can you be a good politician working for the better of fellow poor men when you at the same time run your business? which one do you think you can put more enegy? Do you want them to run their businesses or politics?

PATTI R U 4M MARS OR MALAWI? Let mi remind u. In 2004 Bingu declared his assets his figures were gazetted and published in newspps. He had abt MK250M. B4 he bcame presidnt he had bn to INDIA KENYA ETHIOPIA UAE ZIM ZAMBIA AND THE USA where he worked at very high level. SO TO SAY BINGU IS AN OVER9T RICH ITS A SHAMELESS DISPLAY OF UR INEPTITUDE AND SHORT MEMORY. PATTI U R FED WITH CHEAP LIES. Bingu never mixes state money with his personal estates. Dats why donors have bn honestly confident working with his govt todate. I am not spokesperon for MULLI BUT I KNOW PATTI U R FULL HATRED AGAINST THIS COMPANY. Let mi take u back. Do u remember Group FIve. During MUluzi rule stories spread dat Bakili had shares in GP5 jst coz they won some contracts. Be schooled dat contract is awarded to companies with bright history of perfomance. Some companies fail to perform aft winning contract. So PATTI CAREFUL WITH UR FAKE STORIES. Bingu never takes even a coin 4m STATE MONEY. HIS CHILDRENALL R all PROFESSIONALS .

You are very ignorant person. If a person have been to those countries does not mean RICH. Even if he was working with World Bank does not mean he was rich but could have the money. Working with Organization does not give a person richness. I am sure you dont know what we mean by richness. I want to tell you that Bingu was in Zambia during Kamuzu Banda´s time I was there too in Zambia. Bingu run away from Kamuzu Banda. That time many educated Malawians left the counrty fear of Banda and Tembo. Now Bingu is a president and he want to put us back to the man he himself run away from. and he goes to ask the chief to give him the name Ngwazi. what kind of a man who do that? The countries you have mentioned where Bingu has been I know them and I have worked in Arab world as an engineer. I am not multi millionaire. If Bingu used his money he had in the Bank to build Ndata farm why did he not built it before he became president? Why did he stay with his friend in area 47 or 15? All who work abroad including me I had built my home before I moved to Malawi. I did not move to Malawi and stay with my relatives or friends, NO. You mentioned that Bingu had MK250 million do you think that money is enough to Build all what Bingu has built??? This are Kwachas not dollars. If you had said dollars YES. Coming to Bingu´s daughters. Which professional are they in? If the father was not a president could they own that news paper and other businesses they are owning? Come on man. Muluzi did business. All of them they do businesses after they become politician. They are only interested in using or stealing money not building the country. That is why Africa is the last continent to develope. Why can we not see this. I hope he will tell us how he has managed to build up his weath within the period of 10 years. It took Kamuzu Banda 32 years. And Banda was a millionaire in punds not Malawi Kwacha. You can defend thieves. aif he is not using tax payers money where is the money he is giving his wife salary coming from? The wife is collecting money from women by tea party and saying it is for charitable when she has been told by the husband to get every penny from Malawians to become rich. SHAME.

If Mulli want his money he should wait for what will happen on 17th August 2011. If the police do not start with teargas then the process will be simple and staight forwad but since the police are under instructions shoot to kill then mulli should ask government especaiily Bingu to pay him.

I was on the premises of Sunrise the day before the incident. I was the newly appointed MD at Mulli Brothers and went on a National tour of the MBL Holdings presmises. Leston Mulli is claiming that he lost $3m in stock. I can ensure you that there was about nothing in the Warehouse that was burned down.
