DPP fire Kutsaira as SG, Zikhale gets campaign post, -100% based on 1 rating

By Matamando Mudika

LILONGWE (Malawi Democrat) -Malawi’s ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has fired its Secretary General (SG) Bintony Kutsaira and replaced him with former regional governor Wakuda Kamanga.

No reason has been given for the sudden dismissal of Kutsaira, who replaced Dr Heterwick Ntaba when he was unceremoniously removed from the position in a similar manner.

DPP refused to give reasons for Kutsaira’s removal.

The party has also appointed President Bingu wa Mutharika’s closest friend, Ken Zikhale N’goma, as campaign director.

The party has also appointed former finance minister Goodall Gondwe as first vice president, Labour Minister Yunus Mussa as second vice president and MP Jean Kalirani as third vice president.

Kutsaira said he was not told any reasons but one member of DPP National Governing Council (NGC) the party was not happy with his leadership.

The first DPP Secretary General was Zikhale Ng’oma who was appointed soon after Mutharika formed the party following his breakaway from United Democratic Front (UDF), the party that sponsored him into power.

Ng’oma resigned from DPP after he was demoted to Organising Secretary and his position was taken over by Vice President Joyce Banda, who also resigned because of pressure of work.

Kutsaira’s dismissal follows the trend that has seen all those who amassed a lot of power in the party going out.

Ochewa, you are right that we have to wait for official communication. But history has told us that what these papers write most often than not get vindicated. It is just worrisome hat by now all positions within DPP are made by one person, which could cripple the party. We should learn from Muluzi who owned everything for UDF even bank accounts and the party collapsed when he decided to pull out. Dont you think a convention is necessary to bring sanity and legitimacy in the party?

    PLEASE READ THIS

Kutsaira on Friday last week, 29th July had a meeting with Damazio Shumba and Wakuda Kamanga at the Civic Centre where they resolved to tell the President that the Police and the Army had failed to protect the President and therefore they were planning to seekk his authorization to train DPP militias to beat up and kill all those that are against president Mutharika. They had put down a list of opposition leaders targeting Joyce Banda, Brown Mpinganjira, Cassim Chilumpha, Friday Jumbe, Sam Mpasu, Humphrey Mvula, the Katsonga Brothers, Kamuzu Chibambo, among others. They also wanted to deal with leaders of the clergy, the civil society and the academia. His dismissal has left the plot to be carried out by Wakuda Kamanga and Damazio Shumba.

By the way, the destruction of Zodiak vehicle was done by the same group using the vehicle of a Mr. Chisale who works as a Valerie of Professor Bingu wa Mutharika at the New State House. The Land Rover that was used had no number plate. President Mutharika shoulc explain how one of his staff members is involved in arson.
